History
The story of our Gauchos and our country is as robust as the meal you will enjoy at Pau Brasil.
In the early 1800’s, European immigrants settled in the Rio Grande do Sul area of Brasil. These Brazilian settlers were excellent horseman, so they quickly became adept at raising and herding cattle. The settlers, our ancestors, became known as Gauchos. A unique type of cooking, inspired by the Gauchos, was called churrasco (shoo.rhas.co). After digging pits in the ground, the Gauchos would start a fire using the wood from the rangelands of the Pampas. Once the fire turned to golden embers, large portions of prime meats were skewered and slowly roasted to perfection over the fire pits.
As groups of families would gather for meats, Gauchos would carry bountiful portions of meats, fruits and vegetables to the table.
Using traditional knives, which Gauchos wore on their belts, they sliced thin and tender pieces of meat onto plates. The succulent, skewered meats were served continuously to each person.
This is the tradition of the Brazilian Gaucho and their unique style of preparing and serving food to their families and friends. It is a staple of Brazilian life today – and the experience we would like to share with you in our Churrascaria.
Pau Brasil serves many different types of meats to its customers, continuously at their tables. This is called ‘Rodizio style’, or ‘all around’. Pau Brasil is proud to share the tradition of our ancestors and our home with you.
