About us
Like a lot of good ideas, Eatout restaurant guides were born out of pure frustration!
Beginning in New Zealand back in September 2004, owners Sandra and Garry were fed up with the information they were finding on the Internet - here's their story:
"We just couldn't find what we were looking for on the Internet. It seemed we would search through pages and pages of different web sites and never really found one that did everything we needed.
We also got fed up with the Yellow Pages too, unless we knew exactly where we wanted to go it was impossible to figure out which restaurant looked better than the next. That left us with getting in the car and taking the risk that what we choose was the right choice!
We needed one place to see a huge list of restaurants covering the whole of the country, with simple & easy to use navigation and without advertising clutter all over it! It also had to have more than just a list of names and addresses. How can anyone choose a restaurant with so little information?
And so www.eatout.co.nz was built and went live on 20 September 2004.
We then expanded in Australia with restaurant guides now in Sydney, Brisbane, Perth & Adelaide.
Eatout Restaurant Guides is a work in progress and we’re always finding new ways to get even more diners to our website. Our vision is to be THE resource for finding a cafe, restaurant, pub or club online in the world."
When we relocated to Brisbane, we found the exact same frustration. Plenty of sites with names, addresses and maybe a few wildy differing reviews, but no maps, up-to-date menus, and consistent high quality photos. How was an avid foodie to survive in this city?! Therefore Eatout-Brisbane was born, and it's exciting for us to see how our list has grown.
But enough about everywhere else - what about Sydney I here you ask! Well, the Eatout-Sydney operation is owned by me (Fenwick). Me and my teamare carrying on the vision of Eatout Restaurant Guides - we aim to the BEST resource in Sydney for finding a hospitality venue. We look forward to sharing our finds with you.
